Pictures from the Second Annual PanCAN Walk!!

The Picture of my dad we placed on the Remembrance Wall!!

The Reason we were walking!!

The Remembrance Wall: Every person that was there has been touched by pancreatic cancer, whether it was direct or indirect, but these are the people we were walking in memoryof/ in honor of!

This is the shirt that Lee Ann and I threw together the morning of the walk, because I wanted people to know why I was there.

(Next year we are going to have shirts made in honor of dad!)

All the people on stage in the dark purple shirts were survivors. Some of them are over 5 years cancer free and some are still going through treatment.

There were 12 survivors there on Sunday.

Howard Young, who will be 5 years cancer free on December 19, was in forming the crowd of new research.

TGEN, which is based in Arizona, is one of the leaders in pancreatic cancer research and  is now working with UGA for new treatment and detection research. He informed us that early detection is very important. They are hoping to develop a test similar to prostate screening to help with early detection.

When we lined up to walk this was the line of people a head of us!! Brittany Black who is the head of PanCAN in Georgia said that there were 500 people on Sunday. That was more than double the number of people who came out last year.

Hopefully we can keep doubling the number each year.

The crowd who came out on Sunday in support.

Another picture of the crowd- there were A LOT of people here!

THE FINISH LINE!!

We are going to make this an annual Cartwright Family tradition. We all hope that you will come out with us next year, and walk to support Pancreatic Cancer research.

We were informed  that Pancreatic Cancer research is where Breat Cancer research was in the 1930's.
